The Empire City Garrison has been asked to support The Spirit of Life which was started in memory of Tommy Meo Jr., who was tragically taken from us in an accident at age 12 in September 2000. This year's walk-a-thon will support the Thomas Meo Jr Scholarship Fund Inc, a registered nonprofit.
Tommy was a young boy, a neighborhood kid, known by many, loved by all. His personality was magnetic, everyone loved being around him. At a young age with his skating abilities, Tommy himself volunteered at an event where he helped disabled children enjoy a day on the rink by pulling them around on sleds. His heart, especially for such a young boy, was so genuine. We decided to take this negative experience and make some positive out of it. We believe the world needs more people like him and so we have created this organization to continue to introduce people to our loving Tommy. To introduce them to good deeds, and helping hands, at any age!
